How it works

Walking tours, in your pocket, on every port day

1

Pick a port

Browse our guides for the cruise ports you'll visit. Each one is a hand-crafted walking tour.

2

Save it offline

Open the guide on the ship Wi-Fi. It saves to your phone for use in port — even with no signal.

3

Walk at your pace

Follow stop-by-stop directions, history, food picks, and tips. Linger where you love. Skip what doesn't interest you.

Why we built it

Cruise excursions are great. They're also rigid and expensive.

$89-per-person tour buses, scripted stops, rushed timing. For most ports, you can do better on your own — if you have a guide that knows the route, the food, the timing, and how to get back to the ship. That's what DIY Port Days is.

Cheaper for your group

One price covers your whole travel party. A family of four saves $200+ vs. a guided tour for the same port.

Walked and verified

Every route is walked end to end. We list real distances, real timing, real food picks — no tourist traps.

Works without signal

Download a guide before you sail and it stays on your phone. Perfect for cruise stops with no Wi-Fi.

From the founder

Why I built DIY Port Days

Every cruise, the same story. We'd pay $89 a head for a guided tour, get herded onto a bus, spend twenty rushed minutes at the place we'd been most excited about, and then forty minutes at a “bonus stop” we didn't care about. By the end of the day, the three of us were out close to $270 — and we didn't actually feel like we'd seen the port.

So I started writing my own walking guides for our cruises — finding the historic stops worth lingering at, the lunch spots locals actually go to, and the loops that get you back to the ship without backtracking. It works. We save hundreds of dollars. We see more, linger where we want, and skip what doesn't resonate.

DIY Port Days is those guides, in your pocket. Built for people like me — cruisers who'd rather walk the port at their own pace than ride a bus through it.
