Every cruise, the same story. We'd pay $89 a head for a guided tour, get herded onto a bus, spend twenty rushed minutes at the place we'd been most excited about, and then forty minutes at a “bonus stop” we didn't care about. By the end of the day, the three of us were out close to $270 — and we didn't actually feel like we'd seen the port.
So I started writing my own walking guides for our cruises — finding the historic stops worth lingering at, the lunch spots locals actually go to, and the loops that get you back to the ship without backtracking.
